We are linking MRI datasets in Generation Scotland, Lothian Birth Cohort 1936 and Juvanile Ideopathic Arthritis patients to pain outcomes looking for biomarkers of vulnerability. This involves linkage, analysis and quality control.

Research Datasets, database and Models

The dataset was collected as part of the CAPE study. It consists of pseudonymised data in 75 young adults with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis who have either high or low persistent pain. It includes: – detailed pain history. – multiple patient-reported outcome measures based on validated questionnaires assessing adverse childhood experiences, quality of life, function, psychosocial and cognitive factors. – Quatitative Sensory Testing data (QST; 13 measures + CPM task) assessing somatosensory function and sensitivity across a range of joints and muscles. – brain MRI data (T1, resting state fMRI, diffusion MRI, task fMRI: Reward task and Fearful Faces task). Collecting a broad range of information is important for increasing understanding of difficult-to-manage chronic pain. The dataset will be made publicly available after it has been finalised and initial results published.
